Summer is here and the heat will have us worked up and uneasy. The heat usually hampers your appetite and leaves you feeling lethargic or craving junk. The Date House recognizes the dilemma you are in and we have curated a few recipes that would work as a great supplement to your meal or just help stop your cravings. Take a look :

The Mango Mint Date Lassi

It’s mango season again and boy, have we been waiting for this!

Here is a delicious recipe that can be consumed as a meal or just as a cold, refreshing drink between meals.

    • Hung curd-250 gms
    • Ripe mango-2
    • Dates-10
    • Fresh mint leaves-2-3 sprigs
    • Peel and cut the mangoes into bits
    • Blend the hung curd in a blender and keep aside. Make sure it’s smooth.
    • Soak dates in warm water, de-seed them, and then throw them in the blender.
    • Add the chopped mangoes and blend again.
    • Add some mint leaves and blend again.
    • Now add the blended curd and voila! Your Mango Mint and Date Lassi is ready

No-Bake Granola Balls

This recipe can help you with your hunger pangs between meals and it works as a great breakfast as well.

    • 1 cup pitted dates
    • 1½ cups rolled oats
    • 1 cup chopped dried figs
    • ¼ cup jaggery liquid
    • ¼ cup homemade almond butter
    • Put the dates into a blender and process until it becomes a smooth, spreadable paste. Add a splash of water if it is too dry and lumpy.
    • Put the date paste in a bowl, add the oats and chopped figs and stir well to combine. This may take a fair bit of stirring.
    • Place jaggery liquid and almond butter into a pan and stir it continuously on low heat until it comes together.
    • Combine the melted nut butter with the oats and dates mixture with a wooden spoon.
    • Once it all comes together, scoop out a spoon full of the mix and roll it between your palms to form a ball and place them in the freezer for 30 minutes.
    • Take them out of the freezer, and serve!

Dates Biscuit Roll

This makes for a delicious tea time snack as well.

    • 2 cups of pitted dates
    • 1 packet Marie Biscuit
    • 2 tbsps ghee butter
    • 2 tbsps of jaggery
    • Chop the pitted dates finely or just pulse it in a mixer.
    • Just crush the biscuit, don’t completely powder it. You need to get the crunchy pieces in between.
    • Heat a pan add ghee/butter, then add the chopped dates and sugar and sauté for 5 minutes until the sugar is melted and combined with dates.
    • Then add the crushed biscuit to the dates mixture, mix it well and roll into a cylindrical shape. Wrap it tightly with foil paper greased with ghee and refrigerate until it is firm for 1 hour.
    • Then take out the roll from fridge remove the foil and slice it and store in an airtight container.
